Founded in 2003, Find It® Games is the quintessential success story in the toy and game industry. What started as an idea at the kitchen table has grown into an over four million units sold business and brand name that is recognized by the best specialty retailers in the industry.
The Find It® Game is a “Contained Adventure” – a family-friendly treasure hunt in a sealed tall clear tube. The first prototype consisted of small household objects hidden in a pound of birdseed and then encased in a clear plastic pop bottle. When the concept caught on among friends and family members, founders Bob and Lynn Knight decided to take the product to the next level. After several focus groups the design was set. Bob & Lynn made the early production runs at their kitchen table. They rounded up their savings and created the business that would one day become a household name for millions.
What began as hand cut wood ends, lovingly cut, drilled, sanded and stained has evolved to today, using engineered, brightly colored plastic end caps, a clear tube and plastic pellets. The objects inside range from everyday items to custom designed shapes and images, depending on the theme of each version. No matter which version – “Original”, “Kids”, “Glitz and Glamour”, “Beach” etc. – the game is completely sealed and virtually indestructible. It makes for the perfect game to keep out in the den, game room, classroom or waiting room and is a big hit as a travel game.
In 2008, Find It® had expanded its distribution to include over 7,000 national retailers, quickly becoming one of the best-selling games in the retailer’s assortment. Find It® continued to grow through additional themes, licenses and even brand-new concepts from well-known inventors. 2009 brought further business expansion with the addition of new and unique products in the game and puzzle category. By the end of 2012, Bob & Lynn had launched 15 versions of the Find It® line and 5 additional products to round out their company’s offerings. No small feat for a mom and pop operation! 2013 brought about big changes. A new look and game versions as Bob & Lynn stepped back for 6 years after licensing manufacturing rights to a different company.
Bringing us to today, 2019. Bob & Lynn have taken back the reins and are ecstatic to relaunch their well known and loved Find It® Games brand with gusto. Customers accustomed to stellar customer service and personal touch have expressed much delight that the founders have returned! It has been 15 years with Find It® Games in the marketplace. The couple plan to celebrate by having a few surprises up their sleeves for their customer’s pleasure.
Consumers can expect more unique products from Find It® Games in the months and years ahead. Now the next generation (their grandchildren) are happily offering their ideas of new Find It® themes to create. Lynn says with a wink that,” her grands are her delight and they often get what they want. So, who knows what versions will be in the company’s future! They currently have quite an “interesting” list.” Bob and Lynn are always on the lookout for innovative games and puzzles that fit the values of the company. “We are family oriented,” says Bob, “which means that we place a ton of importance on education, family time, and fun. Our core values revolve around the notion that quality time with family and friends means having fun and playing together in a wholesome environment. Helping other families experience this is a big part of our vision.”
